DPD independently or with external agencies, plan, design and implement professional development programmes (for teachers, head teachers, principals, teacher educators, and district managers) following the Professional Development priorities in collaboration with Elementary & Secondary Education Department.

The Directorate of Professional Development (DPD) performs the following responsibilities:

- Teacher Induction Program
- Leadership and Management (L&M) Training for Heads of HSS/HS
- Material Development
- Monitoring & Evaluation
- Coordination, Management & Administration
