INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY – 21 FEBRUARY 2024
MESSAGE BY WORTHY SECRETARY E&SED
On February 21, the world celebrates International Mother Language Day. This day recognizes the importance of our native languages in shaping our identity, connecting us to our culture, and expressing ourselves freely. Speaking our mother tongue helps us feel comfortable and confident.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department (E&SE) has a long-standing commitment to promoting the regional languages of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Their goal is to ensure the preservation of these precious languages. In celebration of International Mother Language Day, E&SE is organizing various events, including seminars, lectures, competitions, and awareness walks.
This year’s E&SED theme, “Apni Boli Bol” (Speak Your Own Language), emphasizes the importance of using and celebrating our mother tongues. E&SE is also hosting special classroom sessions where students can learn and interact in their native languages.
Learning global languages is important, but we must never forget our own. Our mother tongues hold the key to understanding our heritage, values, and cultural connections.
Let us all embrace our mother languages and enrich ourselves linguistically. Together, we can ensure that these unique and valuable languages thrive for generations to come.
